Mythos-epos Relationship in Siberian Turkish Epics

As it is known, main texts of Turkish mythology were compiled among the Turks settled in Siberia in the 19th century. Compilation of mythic and epic texts from this region coincides with the nearly same period. Siberian Turkish epics include more mythic elements than those of the other Turkish clans. Even the key elements of some epics are composed of these myths. Leading elements here are Ulgen, Erlik and related underground and celestial worlds as well as various figures. In this paper, we will study and discuss the mythic figures in Altai, Khakas, Tuva, Shor and Yakut (Sakha) epics.
